About

I’m Valerie Vuyovich-Connolly, the designer and maker behind VVC Designs. My work celebrates thoughtful construction, distinctive fabrics, vintage inspiration, and clothing made with intention.I am especially drawn to custom garments, capsule wardrobes, vintage-inspired silhouettes, and the creative possibilities found in deadstock and designer fabrics.

I enjoy exploring unconventional patternmaking techniques, developing my own patterns, and solving the construction challenges that transform an intriguing design concept into a beautifully finished, wearable garment.VVC Designs is also a place to explore slow fashion more broadly—what our clothing is made from, who makes it, how long it lasts, and why those choices matter.

Through articles, book reviews, interviews, works in progress, and stories from the sewing community, I hope to encourage a more thoughtful relationship with what we wear.Community and professional development are an important part of my creative practice. I am a member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals and serve on the board of its Baltimore Chapter. ASDP has connected me with fellow designers, sewing professionals, educators, and small-business owners who share a commitment to craftsmanship and the future of the sewing and design professions.

I also serve as co-chair of Project G Street, the G Street Fabrics-sponsored sewing competition held during the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. The competition gives sewing enthusiasts an opportunity to test their creativity and skills while sharing the excitement of garment-making with the wider community.

Whether I am drafting a pattern, experimenting with an unexpected fabric, reviving a vintage sewing machine, competing in a design challenge, or learning from another maker, I believe clothing can tell a story. VVC Designs is where I share those stories—and invite others into the conversation.Subscribe to help me grow this new chapter of VVC Designs and receive a monthly newsletter featuring a summary of recent posts. Individual posts will remain on the website and will not be emailed separately to your inbox.

Exploring slow fashion through handmade clothing, thoughtful design, and creative experimentation.
