Old School Part 2, The Vest Explosion

One of my last posts featured the start of a new design based on Black Snail Patterns, 1890s Ladies Vest. I fell in love with the shape and the versatility that I just couldn’t stop making them. Out of pretty much any kind of material I could. I love how they look with jeans and have also styled them to spruce up boring work attire.

This pattern is highly recommended for anyone with moderate sewing skills to learn to up their game, especially in tailoring techniques. The instructions were well laid out, but could be confusing or overwhelming for anyone new to sewing. These instructions introduced me to flatlining and interlining as well as forcing me to slow down and do a lot of hand sewing. Mind blown and I can’t seem to go back. I started with these vests and have since moved onto coats…more on that soon…
