Hearts of Gold Part One

Anytime I find myself in New Orleans, one must-stop is Promenade Fine Fabrics (PFF) on St. Charles. This place is a treasure trove. During a mental break at work, I came across this gorgeous and unique brocade, red with metallic-gold hearts and roses. So glad it was still available when I visited soon after, it was meant to be!

Hearts of Gold

Just shy of 1 1/2 yards, I knew it wasn’t enough for much, unless of course I chose the color block option. Paired with a gorgeous black boucle, thanks again to the folks at PFF, immediately I knew I could make this fitted coat, again. Pattern: Black Snail Patterns, 1890s Skirted Jacket.

Pattern placement was key, carefully lining up pattern to fabric to create balance and choose just the right spots for the emblems in the design. I typically find myself in this situation, but I just can’t help it. With all of the pieces, including lining cut, I am waiting on the arrival of the hymo interfacing, ordered from Bias Bespoke’s Etsy shop.
